Paul’s passion for water started at an early age when he started swimming at 2 years old and at the age of 5 started swimming on the neighborhood swim team in Houston. After moving to Tulsa, OK at the age of 11, he began to swim competitively for a local swimming club. Paul’s immense passion for all things water-related has been a driving force for the standard that he sets for CayTech Pools and his passion to give families and children safe pools and water to swim in.
Since 1992 Paul has been working in the construction industry holding jobs with a Plaster company, a homebuilder framing, and doing concrete work to pay his way through school.
In 1997 Paul started working for a Civil Engineering firm and land surveyor in Conroe, TX there he was a rodman, a party chief, and also designed infrastructure for residential & commercial developments in and around the Houston area, and he also designed and oversaw construction for canal systems for residential subdivisions on Lake Conroe.
In 1998 Paul worked for a pool builder designing a line of custom pools and streamlined the process to design and estimate the pools in a more efficient manner.
In 1999 Paul received an associate’s degree in computer aided Drafting and design from ITT Technical Institute graduating with a 4.0 highest honors at the very top of his class.
In 2000 Paul accepted an offer from one of the top Civil Engineering and consultation firms in Houston Texas. Paul worked closely with the Harris County Flood Control district, The City of Houston Engineering Department to get drainage plans, retention and detention ponds, bayou diversion, and getting watershed control studies approved. Paul also worked with TXDot and designed roadway, bridges, dams and weir structures, water distribution systems, waste water management systems, storm sewer systems. Some of the major companies the firm worked for are Target, HEB Grocery, Home Depot, Walgreens, and Academy. He worked in conjunction with contractors to manage the construction projects and make sure that the engineering designs were being built accordingly.
In 2003 Paul consulted on large projects for another pool builder in the Houston area for and was hired on for design, sales and construction supervision.
In 2005 CayTech Pools built the first pool designed by Paul Franklin, although his client was on a budget, every consideration was made to make it a key marque for what goes into every CayTech Pool built to date. Paul derived the name for his company by taking a part from his Family heritage from The Cayman Islands and put it together with his technical expertise.
Since 2005 Paul Franklin with CayTech Pools has designed or built 300 custom pool projects. To this day Paul consults for engineering firms in the Houston area and is widely known in the Engineering community as a drainage expert.
In 2006 Paul attended courses for Advanced Specialized Hydraulics, Vanishing Edge and Perimeter overflow pools, shotcrete and gunite application certifications, and also became a Certified Pebble Tec Builder.
